Free online Mindfulness session for people with M.E.

April 18, 2024

Action for M.E. is pleased to offer a short, facilitated, online Mindfulness session in April for adults with M.E., intended to complement other self-management tools, as part of our free Support Services. Mindfulness is awareness that arises through paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment, non-judgementally (Jon Kabat-Zinn).

This pilot session has been specifically designed for people with M.E. and will be led by Action for M.E. volunteer Alice, a qualified mindfulness meditation teacher, supported by a staff member. Accessing the session may enable some people to improve their ability to deal with the stress of living with a long-term health condition like M.E.

Mindfulness is not for everyone and is only one part of the picture for anyone wanting to manage the symptoms of M.E.

When? Friday 26 April from 2pm to 2.45pm
Where? Online via Zoom. Please register in advance (we will ask for your name and email address) by Thursday 25 April. We will confirm your registration by email, please let us know if you need any adjustments and we will do our best to accommodate them within the session.
Any questions? Please email us or call 0117 927 9551 and choose option one to request a call-back.

The 45-minute session will focus on providing a framework for a relaxed meditation experience. It will not offer any medical advice. The instructions in the session are an invitation and if at any time participants feel it is not appropriate for them due to their individual circumstances they can disengage from the session. The session is suitable for all levels of experience, including complete beginners. People can have their camera off, be on their bed or sofa, or wherever they feel most comfortable.

This session has a theme of Spring and renewal. The aim is to promote relaxation. We will then look at how we can offer further sessions based on participant experience/feedback.

Important This session may not be appropriate for someone who has epilepsy or has experienced complex trauma. If you have asthma, then you may need your inhaler to hand, given the focus on breathing. If you have any doubts about attending, then please check with your healthcare professional.
