Welfare rights

Our Welfare Advice and Support Service provides confidential information and advice on welfare benefits, disability discrimination, employment and insurance issues.

Free factsheets

We have a range of welfare benefits factsheets in our publications section which are free to download.

This includes a Guide to welfare benefits which offers an overview of many benefits that people with M.E. may be entitled to. We also have individual factsheets on key benefits.

Welfare Advice and Support Service

From Monday 10 August 2015 our Welfare Advice and Support Service has a new number and will be free to call from UK landlines and mobile phones.

Callers wanting to contact our welfare rights advisor should ring 0800 138 6544. Callers using the old number will hear a recorded message letting them know the new number.

We have made this change to make it easier for people with M.E. who are struggling financially to access our Welfare Advice and Support Service.

The service is open at the following times:

Monday 10am to 12.30pm and 2pm to 4pm
Tuesday 10am to 12.30pm and 2pm to 4pm (for pre-booked appointments)
Wednesday 2pm to 4pm
Thursday 10am to 12.30pm and 2pm to 4pm

The line is always closed on Fridays and Bank Holidays.

We also offer bookable appointments on a Tuesday between 2pm and 4pm.

You can book a slot by calling the number above or our Information and Support Officer on 0117 927 9551 (Mon to Fri 10am to 3pm).

Online enquiries

This service is only for welfare benefit enquiries and should be used if you have a specific and brief question which requires a quick response (within three working days): submit your question
