In 1986 Sue Finlay, our Founder,
wrote an article about M.E. in a national newspaper and received 15,000 letters in response. This outpouring of frustration and suffering was to be the start of what was then named 'The M.E. Action Campaign.’ We changed our name to Action for M.E. in 1993.
In 2002 we merged with the west-country based charity Westcare UK, moving our HQ to Bristol in 2006. Now we have staff in Scotland as well as England.
Action for M.E. is the largest M.E. charity in the UK, with members across the country.
We share the Secretariat of the All Party Parliamentary Group on M.E. at Westminster with the ME Association.
