History

In 1986 Sue Finlay, our Founder, wrote an article about M.E. in a national newspaper and received 15,000 letters in response. This outpouring of frustration and suffering was to be the start of what was then named 'The M.E. Action Campaign.’ We changed our name to Action for M.E. in 1993.

In 2002 we merged with the west-country based charity Westcare UK, moving our HQ to Bristol in 2006. In 2012 we celebrated 25 years of Action for M.E., now the largest M.E. charity in the UK with Supporting Membership across the country and beyond.

Have a look at our history from 2012 back to 1987.
