Returning to work

If you have been out of employment and wish to return, click Finding a job.

If you are still in employment, have been off sick for some time and now feel well enough to return to work with the same employer, tell them you want to come back and make an appointment to discuss a phased return to work.

The Equality Act places a duty on your employer to help you stay in work by making reasonable adjustments. Support is provided by Access to Work.

If it is not possible for you to do the same job you used to do, you may have the right to a different position.

If your employer is unsupportive or unsure what help you might need, you may wish to get advice from a Disability Employment Adviser at your local Jobcentre Plus, or an Occupational Therapist, or your trade union or Citizens Advice.
