Another Lords defeat for Government on welfare
The Coalition Government has suffered another defeat in the House of Lords over its controversial plans to reform the welfare system. Peers yesterday backed an amendment to the Welfare Reform Bill overturning a move to cut payments to specific council tenants with one spare bedroom, by 10 votes. The bill will now go back before MPs who are expected to reverse the decision.
