Action for M.E. is seeking new Trustees who can help the charity in its mission to transform the world of M.E.
The Board of Trustees has ultimate responsibility for everything the charity does. Trustees determine our mission and vision, engage in strategic planning, formulate policies, ensure adequate financial resources and oversee Action for M.E.’s charitable activities.
There are four Board meetings each year and an Annual General Meeting in the autumn. Those whose health prevents them from attending Board meetings in person can participate by teleconference. Most Trustees are also a member of one of the committees that deal with specific aspects of Board business. Trustees are not paid but reasonable expenses are reimbursed.
Action for M.E. has a policy that the majority of the Board has or has had M.E. We also value the perspective of those who are carers.
At present the Board has 12 Trustees and a Chair. Action for M.E. is now seeking applications from people with M.E., carers and others who are passionate about transforming the lives of all people with M.E. in the UK for the better. All applications will be carefully considered. Those with the following skill sets would be of particular interest:
- as medical professionals
- scientific research
- PR and campaigning
- NHS management
- charity sector management
The Board aims to be as representative as possible of those whom it serves. To this end applications from severely affected people with M.E. (or their carers), women and younger people (18 to 35) would be very welcome.
To apply, please send a letter of no more than 300 words stating why you wish to become a trustee together with a short CV (two pages maximum). For any further details, please contact Sara Brooks at or Action for M.E., PO Box 2778, Bristol BS19DJ. Tel: 0117 930 7294.
The closing date for applications is 11 April 2011.
