DLA reassurance from Secretary of State

21 October 2009

Speaking today at the All Party Parliamentary Group on M.E. in the House of Commons, Yvette Cooper MP, Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, reassured people with M.E. that it was not the Government’s intention to change working-age Disability Living Allowance under current care reform proposals.

The position would be further clarified, she said, in a statement by Andy Burnham, Secretary of State for Health, tomorrow.

The Minister, who has recovered from M.E., was answering questions put forward by M.E. charities, support groups and individuals with the illness.

A full transcript of the meeting will be posted in due course.
