Urgent: questions for Secretary of State for Work and Pensions

15 October 2009

Although she already has a tight schedule of commitments that afternoon, so her attendance will be brief, Yvette Cooper, Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, has confirmed that she will join the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on M.E. for 20 minutes, in Committee Room 20, House of Commons, 21 October.

The Minister will arrive at 2pm. The APPG meeting itself will take place 1.30-3pm. As the Minister will not be able to attend the whole meeting, the time available for questions will be extremely limited.

While priority will be given to parliamentarians present on the day who wish to ask questions, including questions submitted by their constituents, Dr Des Turner, Chair of the Group, invites support groups, individuals with M.E., their carers and professionals with an interest in M.E. to submit questions for the Minister via the Secretariat of the APPG by 12 noon Monday 19 October.
For reasons of time, only questions of up to 100 words in length will be considered.

As there will only be a brief opportunity to put questions to the Minister during the session, all questions raised will also be forwarded to the Minister in writing.
