Personal Care at Home Act 2010

15 April 2010

On 8 April the Personal Care at Home Bill received Royal Assent, becoming an Act of Parliament.
The Act aims to help around 400,000 people with care needs by offering free personal care at home for those with the highest needs, regardless of means.

These measures are intended to be the first step towards setting up the new National Care Service.
Action for M.E. welcomes the Government's commitment to make life better for those with the highest care needs, but we would like to have some clarification on which criteria will be used to determine those needs. We will be on the lookout for further developments and opportunities to highlight the experiences of people with M.E.
