Neurological Alliance's new Social Care group

29 September 2011

On 23 September, Action for M.E. trustee Nadia Conway attended the first meeting of a new Social Care group which has been set up by the Neurological Alliance, of which Action for M.E. is a member. Representatives from Alzheimer's Society, Motor Neurone Disease Association, Sue Ryder, MS Society, Manchester Neurological Alliance and Parkinson's UK also attended.

The group discussed:

  • The social care environment: Many of the charities agreed that they have done more to support members with medical and welfare issues so far, but social care issues are coming up on their agendas.
  • Whether there were any positive examples of social care that other services could learn from.
  • The Dilnot Commission and the Law Commisssion: What are the priorities and what could Neurological Alliance do and say?
  • How could Neurological Alliance influence what is coming up and who would the audiences be?
