WCA: second call for evidence

15 July 2011

Professor Malcolm Harrington has launched a second call for evidence for his independent review of the Work Capability Assessment (WCA), the test used to assess claimants for Employment and Support Allowance (ESA).

Professor Harrington is particularly interested in views and evidence about:

  • the implementation of his first set of recommendations and the impact they are having
  • what, if any, further work is required in future reviews
  • the face-to-face assessment.

Action for M.E. will respond to this call for evidence as part of our ongoing campaign to address the failure of the WCA in assessing people with M.E.

We would like to hear from people with M.E. who have experience of applying for ESA since November 2010, when Professor Harrington’s first set of recommendations were published.

Please email our Policy Officer Tristana Rodriguez by Friday 9 September.
