NHS prescription charges to rise

NHS prescription charges in England will increase by 25p to £7.65 from 1 April, Health Minister Simon Burns announced today.

However, the cost of a prescription prepayment certificate (PPC) will be pegged at £29.10 for three months and £104 for a year. PPCs offer savings for those needing four or more items in three months or 14 or more items in a year.

NHS dental charges will also increase from 1 April, with the dental charge payable for a band one course of treatment up by 50p to £17.50, band two by £1 to £48 and band three by £5 to £209.
