Further XMRV and CFS studies

22 February 2010

Action for M.E. is disappointed to hear that so far, further studies have failed to replicate the link between CFS and XMRV virus, found by researchers at the Whittemore Peterson Institute (WPI), Reno, in 2009. The WPI has issued a statement addressing this issue and scientists across the world are still looking into the implications of their initial findings.

Meanwhile, we are continuing to fund the UK's M.E. tissue bank feasibility project and the CFS/ME National Outcomes Database research as they move into the second stages of their work.
We also look forward to hearing the findings of the Medical Research Council's (MRC's) workshop, held in November, when we attend the next meeting of the MRC Expert Group on 1 March.
