Healthcare professionals

The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) has produced a clinical guideline on the diagnosis and management of CFS/ME in adults and children, for use by healthcare professionals in England and Wales.

The guideline stresses the importance of shared decision making with the patient and notes that: “The physical symptoms can be as disabling as multiple sclerosis, systemic lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis, congestive heart failure and other chronic conditions.”

NHS Scotland has also produced a Good Practice Statement on M.E.-CFS, endorsed by the Royal College of General Practitioners Scotland and the Scottish Neurosciences Council, with administrative support from Action for M.E.
