Information and support

Action for M.E. offers a free Information and Support Service for children, young people and adults with M.E., and their carers and family members.

Our Information and Support Service is open Monday to Friday 10am to 4pm. You can:

  • email questions@actionforme.org.uk or
  • call on 0117 927 9551, with the option of leaving an answerphone message if no-one is available to speak to you.

Our friendly Information and Support team understand the challenges of living with M.E., and your information will always be treated confidentially. While they are not medically trained, our team can:

  • share information about many aspects of living with M.E., including getting a diagnosis, accessing appropriate treatment, and finding the right support
  • give you information about other organisations which may be able to help
  • give basic information about welfare benefits, send out our detailed factsheets, and signpost to sources of expert welfare benefit advice. They are unable to give detailed advice, complete application forms, make calls or write letters on your behalf, or help with mandatory reconsiderations or appeals.

Welfare benefits advice

In the past, our service has been able to offer expert welfare benefit advice. We regret that, from April 2019 and until further notice, we are not offering detailed welfare benefits advice service.

In recent months, our reliance on two part-time welfare rights advisors has meant that we have not been able to offer a welfare rights advice service as fully as we intended. We have listened to your feedback, and understand the difficulties this has caused for those of you who have been unable to access support when you needed it. As a result, we are going to make changes so that the service will be less prone to disruption. Please watch this space for further updates.
