Action for M.E. is inviting applications for Chair of our Board of Trustees to succeed Alan Cook CBE, whose second three-year term of office ends in November this year. Alan joined Action for M.E. as in April 2010, and his daughter Jenny has M.E.
Alan says, “I am honoured to have led Action for M.E., with the Board of Trustees and Chief Executives, over the past six years. There have been many challenges during this time but we are now in a much stronger position financially and, under Chief Executive Sonya Chowdhury's outstanding leadership, we are delivering support and services to many more people affected by M.E., many of whom describe our work as ‘a lifeline.’ I intend to find a way of continuing to support the charity and its invaluable work after I have completed my term of office."
Sonya Chowdhury, our Chief Executive, says, “This is sad news as Alan has been a fantastic Chair and I have very much enjoyed working with him. I feel very confident that we will identify a new Chair that will help drive the organisation forward in implementing our new five-year strategy, which we launch in June.”
