Blue Sunday 2022 - The Tea Party for M.E.

April 19, 2022

After an amazing year in 2021, raising over £20,000 for M.E. charities across the world, champion fundraiser Anna Redshaw is inviting you to take part in her Blue Sunday Tea Party 2022, to raise vital funds for people living with M.E.

Anna’s annual Blue Sunday Tea Party has become an established event in the calendar for people with M.E. and their families, friends and carers, since its beginning in 2013. The tea party, which has been held both in person and online, acts not only as a fundraising event for M.E. charities but also as a way to raise awareness and break the isolation so often experienced by people with M.E.

Anna’s idea is simple – on Sunday 15th May, wear something blue (pyjamas count!), dig out your best cups, buy or bake your favourite cake and ask friends and family to enjoy the party with you, either in person or via video call. By asking participants to donate as much as they’d expect to pay for a cup of coffee and a cake, the Blue Sunday Tea Party has raised over £40,000! Anna’s amazing fundraising and awareness raising efforts have been recognised internationally, as she has received nominations for a JustGiving award and several WEGO Health Activist awards.

This year, Anna is fundraising for a number of M.E. charities, both national and international, and has kindly chosen Action for M.E. as one of them. Anna said:

“I've chosen Action for M.E again this year as I continue to be incredibly impressed by the work and dedication of the team. Having had the pleasure of working with some of the Action for M.E team through the Decode ME DNA study, it is clear how passionate every member of the team is, not only about supporting people with M.E but also about furthering research, changing attitudes, and bettering the lives of M.E sufferers and their families. For many of us a change feels so slow (too slow) but it has been uplifting to see a snippet of how hard and how unwavering the support and work of Action for M.E is.”

We are so grateful for Anna’s support, and we look forward to supporting this year’s event.
