The Countess of Mar has written to the Science Media Centre, asking them to retract and replace their recently published factsheet on M.E.
Her letter, sent on behalf of Forward M.E., which Action for M.E. is a member of, states: "The factsheet includes numerous inaccuracies and distortions; it denigrates patients and some doctors; it fails to reflect the numerous peer-reviewed papers, published since the release of some of the raw data from the trial following legal action, which demonstrate serious defects in the PACE trial, and it fails to take into account the extensive research from the USA published since 2014."
Her letter, which you can read in full here, goes onto to highlight the factual inaccuracies in the Science Media Centre's factsheet, and asks that it be retracted. The Countess of Mar will contact us and other Forward M.E. members as soon as she receives a response.
The factsheet was published just in advance of the latest re-analysis of PACE trial data by Dr Carolyn Wilshire and a number of M.E. advocates in the journal BMC Psychology.
