Do you claim PIP? Share your experience

August 04, 2016

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has issued a call for evidence on the Personal Independence Payment (PIP) for its second independent review of the benefit.

Action for M.E. is asking people with M.E. with experience of the PIP claim process to tell us about it by completing a short survey. Your answers will inform our organisational response to the consultation, so that we can highlight the impact of claiming PIP on people with M.E.

The first independent review of PIP took place in 2014, and identified a number of recommendations that the DWP accepted in order to improve the claim process. This review hopes to build upon the work of the first, by tracking any progress since 2014 and identifying new areas for improvement.

Our survey asks about a range of topics. These include:

  • the use of further evidence in supporting a claim
  • your experience of the appeal process
  • the clarity of communications you received
  • your opinion on whether data sharing across government departments could improve the care you receive.

The deadline for completing this survey is Wednesday 31 August, and it is not necessary to answer all of the questions on the survey: we appreciate any and all information you can offer. Thank you.
