Edina's Story - 'There is no help'

July 30, 2024

**Trigger warning - assisted dying, death**

We are using this page to provide media updates on the story of Edina Slayter-Engelsman, who had severe ME, and returned to the Netherlands to end her life by assisted dying. Edina and her family wanted to share her story to bring more awareness to ME.

Our CEO, Sonya Chowdhury, was interviewed on BBC Scotland The Nine as they continued their coverage of Edina, who had lived in Scotland for more than 30 years. Sonya said:

"ME, whether it's mild or severe, significantly impacts on the life, it takes away a lot of things that many of us just take for granted. It is devastating that people are not getting the care they need."
