Our fundraiser of the week is Adele Currie, who took part in a Grand Canyon Trek for us.
Joined by her friend Catherine Hunter, Adele trekked her way around the Grand Canyon last month to raise vital funds for our services and awareness of M.E.
Adele said: “My experience with M.E. started over 15 years ago, when I watched my Mum go from being a busy, active and independent person to essentially becoming house-bound for a number of years. Her life was turned upside down. She had to retire from work, becoming somewhat socially isolated and now lives in a restrictive routine in order to avoid over-exertion caused by doing simple things that many would consider 'every-day' tasks.
“If I can help even one person understand what this condition is truly like and eradicate some of the stigma and prejudice that surrounds it, then I'll have achieved my goal.
“I am not asking for contributions towards my travel or trek as this is entirely self-funded. Every penny from donations will go towards this amazing charity who are fighting and researching daily to help people just like my Mum.”
