Our fundraiser of the week is Joan White, who is taking on the London Duathlon for us.
Joan, plus a stalwart group of her friends, will compete either in the half London duathlon (5km run, 22km cycle and 5km run) relay Duathlon or the Duathlon itself (10km run, 44km cycle and 5km run) in Richmond Park on Sunday 18th September 2016.
Talking about her reasons for supporting us, Joan said: “For the last six years I have watched my lovely 21-year-old goddaughter Georgia Cutts deal with M.E. It is a very misunderstood condition and it has stopped Georgia from being able to do all the typical things a teenager should do. She is in pain a lot of the time but doesn't complain. Sometimes the effort of lifting a knife and fork is too much for her.
“Georgia was very active before M.E. struck and she would love to take part in this challenge but she physically can't.
“Her mum has worked tirelessly to raise funds and awareness and so it's time to put down the crisp packet and get on my bike and do something to help!”
You can support Joan - and friends and family members Teresa and Marty Simmonds, Wayne Collins, Joanne Smeed, Neil Park, Caroline and Matt Boyd and Alison and Matty Cutts taking on this challenge with her - via her Just Giving page.
