Our fundraiser of the week is Sam who will be cycling 90km from London to Brighton. He is raising money for our charity in order to contribute to vital funding towards research in to M.E./CFS.
This issue is close to Sam’s heart as his girlfriend has M.E. When speaking about this, Sam tells us that:
“My girlfriend has had M.E for the last five years - it's been a real struggle, and for a long time we didn't know what was wrong. She'd have chronic fatigue, pain, nausea and brain fog, and had to put her career on hold because she is too unwell to work. But as nobody can see the symptoms, a lot of people assume M.E. is a psychological illness.
“Since getting her diagnosis a year ago our eyes have been opened to how many other people have this illness, but it's a relief to know there's a support network like Action for M.E out there championing the cause, raising awareness and funding research to find a cure.
“I'm cycling from London to Brighton this September to raise money for Action for M.E in the hope that one day soon, a cure will be found to give people with M.E. their lives back.”
We’d like to say a huge thank you to Sam for supporting the work that we do through his fundraising. Best of luck with your cycle this weekend Sam!
