Got experience of M.E.? Take part in our new project
October 27, 2016
If you have experience of M.E. and would like to use your experiences to help support others in a positive and constructive way, then Action for M.E. has an opportunity for you.
We are recruiting peer mentor volunteers for our Mentor M.E. project, which will train and support a network of mentors who will use their experience of M.E. to support others with the condition.
We are currently now looking for volunteers in Edinburgh, Lothians and Fife. Training and skills-development sessions for mentors will take place in November and December 2016 before we match them with people seeking mentoring support from early 2017.
Mentors will use their knowledge and experience to support someone living with M.E. to manage their condition and live a more fulfilling life whatever their present circumstances. Mentors will have on-going support from Action for M.E. and will be able to meet with other mentors to share their experiences of mentoring. If you are able to meet someone for an hour a month or a fortnight and can provide mentoring support then we would like to hear from you.
If you are interested in becoming a peer mentor or would like to know more about what the role involves, please contact Avril McLean, Project Worker on 07753 247099 or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
This project has funding from the Health and Social Care Alliance Scotland (the Alliance) and the Scottish Government from the Transforming Self-Management in Scotland Fund and is currently only being run in Scotland.
