On 26 October, we . co-hosted our second drop-in event for people with M.E. in Inverness. This was in partnership with M.E. Highlands and Islands Network and The Oxygen Works. Based on our learning from the last event, this drop in was designed to offer one to one conversation and information about M.E./CFS.
As part of the day, delegates had the option to watch three presentations covering a range of issues. This included a presentations on Personal Independence Payment (PIP), the latest M.E. research and Mentor M.E., our free, mutual peer support project for people affected by M.E. in Scotland.
When speaking about the day Pamela, from the M.E. Highlands and Islands, explained: “It was another successful event. People with M.E. met others with M.E. for the first time, and people with no other forms of support were signposted to services.”
Reflecting at the end of the day together the volunteers and partners said that they want to continue to host regular Meet M.E. events. The Oxygen Works are now providing the space for coffee meet ups twice a month and have invited Action for M.E. to deliver some staff awareness raising training to build the capacity of their team to support and signpost people with M.E.
