New training module for healthcare professionals

May 22, 2020

A new training course has been produced for health professionals by Dr Nina Muirhead and the Medical Education Working Group. The working group was formed from members of the UK CFS and M.E. Research Collaborative (CMRC) and have co-opted in representatives from various NHS fields to develop this resource.

The aim of the new document is to ensure health professionals are up to date with the latest biomedical research, have a clear overview of the condition and symptoms, as well as make them aware of the evidence of harms from graded exercise therapy.

The course was put together using patient stories as case studies to ensure that patient experience is at the heart of what health professionals learn about M.E./CFS. Dr Muirhead, who has M.E. and spoke about her experience at the CMRC conference in March, is now working with organisations including Action for M.E. to distribute this training course as far and wide as possible.

Dear XXX

I am writing to highlight a brand new CPD accredited module on Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome which you can find here: https://www.studyprn.com/p/chronic-fatigue-syndrome

This module has been put together by a collaboration of clinicians, patients and charities and will ensure you are aware of the latest research and understanding of the condition. It is a relatively short module so will not take up too much of your time.

If you would like further information on the condition and what you can do to support people with M.E./CFS then please contact policy@actionforme.org.uk.

Kind regards
