"It has been a distressing time for me. By the time I was at tribunal, I was given a five-year award due to the severe impact all of this has had on my health."
This is the experience one person has shared with us of their welfare benefit assessment. Unfortunately, too many people also find the process of being assessed for benefits over-complicated and that having to appeal incorrect decisions can make their M.E. symptoms worse.
Have you applied for either PIP or ESA? Did you feel that the assessment failed to accurately capture your condition, or did you have a positive experience with an assessor who understood M.E. and took your needs into account?
If you haven’t done so already, there is one week left to take part in our survey and ensure that your voice is heard.
We are asking for your views on the PIP and ESA assessments to inform our response to a Work and Pensions Committee inquiry looking into these benefits. Thank you to everyone who has already taken part over the last few weeks.
The survey will close at 9am on Monday 6 November.
