Research finds link to dysfunctional immune system

February 22, 2017

There has been considerable buzz this week around the news that scientists in Australia have found a link between M.E. and a dysfunctional immune system.

Results from the work being done by the team at Griffith University’s National Centre for Neuroimmunology and Emerging Diseases (NCNED) were published throughout last year in a number of scientific journals.

The findings are indeed exciting – as are the fact that they are being reported on in mainstream and science press – though the team themselves are clear that it’s still early days.

Led by Profs Don Staines and Sonya Marshall-Gradisnik, they will continue to test their hypothesis, with their ultimate goal being a diagnostic test for M.E., and potential treatments.
