Our Summer Appeal has now closed. Thank you so much to everyone who supported us in creating change for people with ME!
Everything changed for Giulia when she became ill with ME.
"I went from being a very active, social person working full-time to someone who has to carefully monitor energy levels.”
ME affected all parts of her life, from having to regularly cancel or reschedule meet-ups with friends to limiting the amount of work she was able to do.
“It's been a dramatic shift, affecting my whole identity. I've had to develop patience, creativity, and inner strength to navigate life while feeling permanently or often exhausted, yet still needing to fulfil responsibilities.”
Giulia contacted our Information & Support service when she first became ill and needed support to discuss her ME with her employer and the adjustments she needed to continue working.
“Action for ME was my first port of call when I got ill. They offered invaluable support, directing me to literature on work and benefits, which helped me negotiate a job share at work. Knowing I wasn't alone in this uncharted territory was comforting.”
During a recent relapse, Giulia contacted us again and received guidance from our friendly team on sick leave negotiations, managing relapses, and health insurance claims. She also accessed our Physiotherapy service, available since our merger with The ME Trust in 2022.
“The physiotherapy service has been particularly helpful, offering tips on parenting with chronic fatigue and stabilising my energy while raising two active toddler twins. This support has made a huge difference in my life.”
Our Information & Support service relies on donations to support people like Giulia.
“I would say that Action for ME is a life-saving service. People with chronic fatigue face overwhelming practical, emotional, and physical challenges. Action for ME offers a lifeline with practical advice, emotional support, and materials to educate workplaces and navigate systems. Your donation can make a real difference in the lives of people like me.”
