Walk with M.E.
Since 2018, our annual Walk with M.E. fundraiser has brought teams together to count one million collective sponsored steps over 100 days, from Monday 1 February to M.E. Awareness Day on 12 May. So far, Walk with M.E. has raised more than £20,000, helping us reach even more people with M.E. who need information, support and advice.
Our supporters with M.E. whose symptoms mean they are able to take only a few steps each day – or none at all – add the steps taken by their supportive team members to their overall total.
This year, the national lockdown means that participants are staying at home to protect the NHS and save lives – making one million steps over 100 days even more of a challenge.
So we have decided to delay the official launch of Walk with M.E. for a short time – but we’d still love to hear from anyone who would like to take part, like Bev. University student Bev has been keen to put together a Walk with M.E. team, building up steps with her support bubble at or close to home.
“When I was diagnosed with M.E., I thought I would never be able to enjoy the outdoors again,” recalls Bev, whose health has improved considerably, though she still needs to manager her energy carefully. “I am now fortunate enough to be in a position where I can begin to fulfil my ambitions, and I want to make the most of this opportunity to give back to the M.E. community. With careful pacing so I don’t overdo it, and the support of my amazing friends, I’ll be able to contribute to our team total.”
