Fundraiser of the week: the ChallengeME team

November 06, 2020

“Their response has been overwhelming, with challenges including a 50-minute family disco dance, 50km walks and Hiking along the Yangtze River!”

Emma and her team, who are undertaking a medley of challenges to raise funds for Action for M.E., are our fundraisers of the week.

Emma, who has had M.E. since initially coming down with a virus four years ago, launched her ‘ChallengeME’ fundraiser in recognition of the limitations her illness has placed on her. On Emma’s behalf, those close to her have hiked, danced and ran to support Emma and others living with M.E. Emma says of her M.E. and the fundraiser:

“There’s lots of things I miss, including physical challenges. As I can’t do that, for my 50th I invited family and friends to take part instead, and enjoy the pleasure (and pain!) of doing so."

Andy, Emma’s husband, managed to place in the top 5% of JustGiving fundraisers last month for his ChallengeME half marathon run. Andy said of Emma:

“It is so unfair that someone with so much energy and joie de vivre should have their life put on hold in this way. It is only right that we all “be more Emma” in a bid to raise money to fund a way of dealing with this illness.”

The collaborative efforts of Emma’s friends and family have raised over £4k so far. With ChallengeME events still ongoing, we’ll provide a final update once all fundraising and events have been completed.

As with all of our fundraisers, we’re very thankful for the support from Emma and her team and commend the support of the team for Emma.
