Janice Kent - a beacon for people with M.E.

September 27, 2023

We are deeply saddened to hear that Janice Kent died peacefully in hospital on 18th September after a short illness.

Janice and her husband Bill founded reMEmber, which received The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service in 2015. Since the couple founded the charity in 1999, they have worked tirelessly, until their recent retirement, to tackle the lack of support and knowledge about ME/CFS in Mid-Sussex. They also played a proactive part in Forward-ME alongside other charities and individuals.

Our Chief Executive, Sonya Chowdhury, said:

“I will always fondly remember Janice. At my first Forward-ME meeting, I was invited to meet with Janice and Bill for tea beforehand and received such a warm welcome to the M.E. community but was also told what was expected of me in no uncertain terms! Janice oozed commitment and dedication to people with M.E. and she didn’t hold back in ensuring that others were with her on this journey for change. Janice was kind-hearted, generous and a beacon for many whom she and Bill supported. She will be sadly missed.”
