Jo Platt MP - Health and Social Care oral questions

14 February 2025

We were pleased to see Jo Platt MP ensuring people with ME and long Covid remain a priority for the Government as part of the NHS reforms.

Jo, who is one of our Parliamentary Champions and Chair's the APPG on ME, asked the following topical question as part of last week's Health and Social Care oral questions:

"Groups such as Action for ME and Long Covid Support tirelessly advocate for improved care for over 2 million people living in the UK. How will the Minister ensure that NHS reforms deliver timely diagnosis, effective treatment and long-term support for those affected?"

Andrew Gwynne MP, former Parliamentary-Under Secretary of State for the Department of Health and Social Care, responded, outlining NHS England's plans to complete a 'stocktake' of long Covid services throughout England at the end of the month, giving them an accurate, in-depth overview of both long Covid and ME services.
