Action for M.E. partners with the Henley Distillery
April 22, 2024
Action for M.E. is delighted to announce a new partnership with The Henley Distillery, an award winning company distilling gin, rum and other spirits based in Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire.
We were approached by Jacob Wilson, Founder and Master Distiller, to become the company’s first ever charity partner. Jacob lived with M.E. for many years as a young person and as an adult founded his own successful business, and now wants to use his position to support other people with M.E. and raise awareness of the condition.
In Jacob’s words:
"We are delighted to announce Action for M.E as The Henley Distillery’s dedicated charity partner for the year.
The cause is one that is very close to mine and my family’s hearts, myself having been hugely impacted by M.E from the age of 14 as well as the impact it had on my parents, without whom I would not have got to where I am today.
We plan to utilise every tool we have at our disposal to raise as much money and make as big an impact as possible for people with M.E. working alongside the wonderful people at Action for M.E."
Our partnership begins with Jacob joining our 3 Peaks team, taking on an epic challenge in May to ascend Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in less than 24 hours to raise £50,000 for our work. This challenge ends on World M.E. Day, 12 May – good luck Jacob!
His company will also be hosting a distillery open day on 30 June to celebrate The Henely Distillery’s third birthday, with a percentage of proceeds going to Action for M.E. There are a number of other interesting collaborations in the pipeline too.
We are very excited to begin this partnership with The Henley Distillery, helping us continue our mission to empower people with M.E. to fulfil their potential and secure the care and support they need, while working towards a greater understanding of the illness and ultimately a cure. We recognise that not everyone with M.E. recovers, but with this partnership we will be able to raise further awareness of the reality of M.E., and the desperate need for more research into this illness.
Thank you so much to Jacob and his team for supporting us, and cheers to an exciting year to come in partnership with your fantastic company.
