Long Covid and ME/CFS share many symptoms, but do they share the same biology?
Join our second PRIME Workshop to explore the similarities and distinctions between these two complex conditions.
When: Friday 24th April, 2026 2pm - 5pm

With an estimated up to 1.35 million people in the UK with ME or ME-like symptoms, understanding how these conditions overlap - and where they diverge - is crucial for improving research, diagnosis and treatment.
This workshop will bring together leading researchers to discuss emerging science across areas including:
• Shared biological pathways between Long Covid and ME
• Genetic drivers and new precision medicine approaches
• The role of persistent infections
• Overlapping symptoms and clinical trajectories
• How case definitions shape research and healthcare
Hear from experts including Professor Danny Altmann (Imperial College London), Dr Amy Proal (PolyBio Research Foundation), Professor Manoj Sivan (University of Leeds), Professor Nisreen Alwan (University of Southampton) and Dr Andy Malinowski (PrecisionLife).
PRIME stands for “Building Infrastructure for Patients, Researchers and Industry for Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.” It is an initiative designed to strengthen and accelerate research into ME/CFS.
Funded by the UK Medical Research Council from 2025–2029, PRIME is led by the University of Edinburgh in partnership with Action for ME. You can find out more about PRIME here.
