Sir Jeremy Hunt MP joins our Parliamentary Champions network

3 October 2025

We're delighted to announce Sir Jeremy Hunt MP as our newest Parliamentary Champion!

Speaking on the announcement, Sir Jeremy said:

"As a former Health Secretary, I have long understood the need for a greater recognition and understanding of long term conditions. Too many people living with ME continue to face stigma, misunderstanding, and a lack of adequate care.

With the Government’s Delivery Plan on ME/CFS recently published alongside the Government’s 10-Year Plan for the NHS, this is a particularly important time to push for meaningful action . We must ensure that ME is no longer overlooked and that the momentum gained in parliament now translates into real, lasting change for patients.

I look forward to working with Action for ME to hold the Government to account and to push for the strategic research and support services that people with ME so urgently need."

We look forward to working with Sir Jeremy and would like to thank him for his commitment to supporting our work and people with ME.

What does a Parliamentary Champion do?

Our network of Parliamentary Champions are our 'go-to' individuals when engaging with Government and building support for our campaigns more broadly in Parliament and beyond.

They help us in a number of ways, including:

  • tabling written and oral questions on ME
  • tabling and supporting debates on ME
  • sponsoring events in Parliament.
  • writing opinion pieces for national and local press.
