Apply for a Charity Place - Edinburgh Marathon Festival

By applying for a charity place in the Edinburgh Marathon Festival you agree to the following:

Registration Fee
• To pay the non-refundable registration fee for your event (amounts below) within 10 days of receiving the registration link from Action for ME, otherwise you understand that your place will be rescinded.

Registration Fees:
o Full Marathon - £50
o Half Marathon - £30
o 10k - £25
o 5k - £25
o Team Relay (4 people) - £100 per team
o Junior Events - £25

Fundraising
• To set up your fundraising page through Just Giving and link it to the 2026 Action for ME Edinburgh Marathon Festival page. You will be sent a link to set this up once you have registered for the event.
• To create your fundraising page within 7 days of the registration link being sent to you by Action for ME.
• To only use safe and legal means of fundraising, more information here
• Not to bring the charity into disrepute
• Not to use our logo or branding without prior express permission
• To gain approval from Action for ME before producing any fundraising materials, or approaching press or celebrities to support your fundraising
• To the following fundraising targets and milestones:
o To raise the minimum fundraising target for your event (amounts below) by the 24th June 2026, one month after the event date.
o To have raised 50% of your target by the 24th February 2026 to show your commitment to your charity place. You understand that if you do not raise this amount by the date, your place may be removed from the console, and as such you will not take part in the race.
 
Minimum Fundraising Targets:
o Full Marathon - £750
o Half Marathon - £350
o 10k - £250
o 5k - £250
o Team Relay (4 people) - £750 per team
o Junior Events - £35

Deferring or cancelling your place
• That should you wish to defer your place due to injury, you will contact Action for ME as soon as possible to let them know.
• If you are applying to defer after the 2026 Edinburgh Marathon Festival Registration has already closed, you understand that to defer your place, you still need to have raised the minimum 50% of your minimum fundraising target.
• That should you wish to defer your place to the following year for a non-injury reason, this will be decided on a case-by-case basis by Action for ME, and Action for ME will use their discretion in deciding whether your place can be deferred to the following year.
• That if you wish to cancel your place in the 2026 Edinburgh Marathon Festival, at any time, your registration fee will not be refunded. Also, that if you cancel your place, the funds you have already raised will be non-refundable and will be treated as a donation to Action for ME.

Communicating with Action for ME
• That you will let us know if you can no longer participate in the 2026 Edinburgh Marathon Festival, or if your circumstances around running change, as soon as is possible, by emailing fundraising@actionforme.org.uk or calling 0117 927 9551 (Fundraising Option).
• Ensure that nicola.jones@actionforme.org.uk and fundraising@actionforme.org.uk are on your safe email list so you do not miss any crucial sponsorship or race information from Action for ME. Also that you understand that failure to do so may result in crucial information going straight to your spam/junk folder.
• That you understand Action for ME may contact you about your sponsorship and race day via email from nicola.jones@actionforme.org.uk, or fundraising@actionforme.org.uk, or may call you or leave a voicemail from 0117 927 9551. That you will respond to Action for ME as soon as you are able to, and that if Action for ME do not hear back from you after a significant period of time after trying to contact you several times, you acknowledge this can result in Action for ME withdrawing your charity place from the event.

Personal data and images
• That you consent to being filmed/photographed by Action for ME in relation to this event. That you give permission for the free use of your first name, picture, image and feedback in any future publicity, advertising, fundraising materials and/or promotion.
• That you give permission for your personal information to be stored and used by Action for ME in connection with the organisation and administration of the 2026 Edinburgh Marathon Festival.
• That you can find further information on how Action for ME use and store your data on the Action for ME website within the privacy policy.

Taking part in the event
• You agree to abide by the general conditions of entry set by the event organisers. You can find these here.
• You confirm that you are medically fit to take part in the event, and you participate at your own risk. Action for ME will not be held responsible for any injury or illness resulting from your participation in the event.
