Ruth Jones MP joins our Parliamentary Champions network

17 July 2025

We're delighted to announce Ruth Jones MP as our newest Parliamentary Champion!

Speaking on the announcement, Ruth said:

"I’m pleased to become a Parliamentary Champion for Action for ME, building on my awareness of ME as a complex, fluctuating illness from my time on disability appeal panels.

As a Welsh MP, I know that devolution can’t mean disparity, and people living with ME in Wales deserve the same understanding, care, and support as anywhere else in the UK.

With the Decode ME study results due to be released shortly along with the Delivery Plan on ME/CFS, we have an opportunity to push for real scientific and clinical progress. I look forward to working with colleagues across Parliament, including through the ME and long Covid APPGs, to press for greater research investment and support for overlapping illnesses."

We look forward to working closely with Ruth to amplify the voices and experiences of people with living with ME in Wales.

What does a Parliamentary Champion do?

Our network of Parliamentary Champions are our 'go-to' individuals when engaging with Government and building support for our campaigns more broadly in Parliament and beyond.

They help us in a number of ways, including:

  • tabling written and oral questions on ME
  • tabling and supporting debates on ME
  • sponsoring events in Parliament.
  • writing opinion pieces for national and local press.
