Roger Siddle appointed Chair of Board of Trustees
March 02, 2020
Action for M.E. is delighted to announce the appointment of Roger Siddle as our new Chair of Board of Trustees. Roger says:
“Like many others, I have been struck and frustrated by the lack of knowledge of M.E. and ways to manage it from those who should – and need – to know. I believe that much more can and must be done on biomedical research and awareness-raising.”
Roger is non-executive Chairman of a number of private businesses, after a successful period as Group CEO of two publicly quoted companies, BPP Holdings plc and Findel plc. His youngest son was diagnosed with M.E. in 2017.
With a view to taking over the role of Chair following induction, Roger was elected to our Board of Trustees by Supporting Members in October last year.
Sonya Chowdhury, Chief Executive, Action for M.E. says:
“Roger’s personal experience as a parent, coupled with his wealth of business and third sector expertise, make him the ideal Chair of our committed Board, as we begin to develop our next five-year strategy. On behalf of our staff team, volunteers and Board of Trustees, I extend grateful thanks to interim Chair Matt Symonds, who has supported the charity during this period of transition.”
With an MBA from Harvard Business School and an MA in Mathematics from the University of Cambridge, Roger spent 17 years of his career at Bain and Company, where he became Managing Partner of the London office in 2001. He has also acted as corporate fundraising adviser to the NSPCC, and been a member of its National Volunteer Board.
