Our research aims
In our 2022 - 2027 strategy, Shaping our future together, we set out ambitions for increased research funding and more high-quality research, including:
- an aim to deliver £2 million investment via our Breakthrough-ME research strategy
- to co-delivery DecodeME, the world's largest genetic ME study, and seek to expand this research model to provide greater insight and research opportunities
- to drive ME genetics research forward through a virtual Genetics Centre of Excellence and our involvement in collaborative in genetics-research project such as LOCOME
- to address the shortage of ME researchers and investing in a Young Leaders programme
- to ensure patient and public involvement (PPI) is at the heart of driving research forward
- to work collaboratively to ensure progress in ME research is accelerated, including ensuring ME is included in long Covid research
- to enhance our influencing and policy work by engaging with public funders and collaborating with stakeholders in the ME field to advocate for the UK to deliver strategic research funding for ME.
