We're pleased to share a recording of a recent Mindfulness Meditation session for people with ME and their carers, following requests from regular attendees who found the session particularly helpful.
The theme of this guided meditation is visualising a personal peaceful sanctuary – a calming exercise designed to support relaxation.
Our mindfulness sessions form part of Action for ME's free Support Services. Mindfulness is awareness that arises through paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment, and without judgement. Some people find that practising mindfulness can help them manage the stress and challenges of living with a long-term health condition such as ME.
It's important to recognise that mindfulness is not for everyone and should be viewed as just one of many possible self-help tools. People experience ME differently, and what works well for one person may not be right for another.
Whether you're living with ME yourself or supporting someone who is, you're welcome to access this recording and see whether it may be helpful for you.

We'd like to thank everyone who attends our monthly mindfulness sessions and helped inspire us to make this recording available to a wider audience. 🌿
IMPORTANT These mindfulness practices may not be appropriate for someone who has epilepsy or has experienced complex trauma. If you have asthma, then you may need your inhaler to hand, in case the focus on breathing induces an asthma attack. If you have any doubts about listening, then please check with your healthcare professional.
