Marathons and Half-Marathons

We have charity places available for events across the U.K.

By taking part in a marathon or half marathon for Action for M.E. you’ll be helping us to support people of all ages across the UK with M.E.

When you sign up to run for Action for M.E., you'll receive the dedicated support of our fundraising team every step of the way, whilst you make a real difference to the lives of those affected by M.E.

We couldn’t do what we do without our amazing fundraisers, so thank you.

London Marathon 2025

The London Marathon first took place in 1981 and has become one of the most popular marathons in the world. The route takes in many of London's best landmarks including Buckingham Palace, The Cutty Sark, Tower Bridge and Canary Wharf. In 2024, Team Action for M.E. raised over £30,000!

If you would like to find out more about joining Team Action for M.E. in 2025, please get in touch with our fundraising team at fundraising@actionforme.org.uk.

We often receive more applications than we have spaces for, so if you haven’t already, we encourage you to apply for a place through the London Marathon Ballot, to increase your chances. The ballot closes Friday 26th April 2024, and you can find out more about entering here.

Great North Run 2024

The Great North Run is the world’s biggest and most iconic Half Marathon. Held on Sunday 8th September 2024, the course takes in the bustling city of Newcastle and finishes in the beautiful coastal town of South Shields. With on-route entertainment, a Red Arrows flyover, and over 60,000 participants, the Great North Run promises to be a fun and rewarding day!

Every year, we have a fantastic team of runners to raise funds and awareness for Action for M.E. Last year, Team Action for M.E. raised an incredible £10,000 between them.

Are you ready to take on the challenge? Applications for the Great North Run 2024 are now open!

If you'd like to join Team Action for M.E., please sign-up by downloading and completing the application form, and returning it to fundraising@actionforme.org.uk. Please also read our Terms and Conditions of a Charity Place. By submitting an application, you agree to abide by these terms should you be selected. Please note, there is a registration fee of £35, and a minimum fundraising target of £350.
